George Sand (1804–1876), geboren als Amantine Aurore Lucile Dupin in Paris, war eine berühmte Salonnière und Schriftstellerin. Unter dem Pseudonym George Sand hat sie mehrere Romane veröffentlicht. 1838 reiste sie nach Mallorca, wo ihr berühmtes Werk Ein Winter auf Mallorca entstand.
